As part of Lonrho Logistics commitment to skills development and social upliftment, each year they run an Internship Program for unemployed young people.
The program is run in conjunction with KVR Qhubeka, a training company specialising in accredited (recognised within the National Qualifications Framework-NQF) and non-accredited skills development programs. The programme in place with Lonrho Logistics is a NQF Level 2 Freight and Logistics Internship which takes place at their O.R Tambo International Airport facility.
This year, the programs runs from 1 June 2017- 31 May 2018 and Lonrho Logistics has taken on 17 interns including three females. The training is broken up into 10 modules spread over the duration of the year, these modules are broken down into; fundamental, core and elective units.
Once the interns have successfully completed this programme, they will leave Lonrho Logistics with a recognised qualification which will assist them in finding employment. Last year, Lonrho Logistics was in the fortunate position whereby they could employ three of the 12 interns who took part in the 2016/2017 programme.
